Baap ke qadmon se lipti ro rahi hai Ali (as) betiya
Ali’s daughters arecrying and clinging on to Ali’s (as) feet
Zarb khayi hai Ali (as) ne hai qayamat ka samaa
Ali (as) has been struck, it is tragic sight
Ho gayi tar aansuon se haaye is ghar ki zamee
Soaked in tears is the floor of this house
Hain kahin Kulsoom o Zainab or Ruqayya hain kahin
Kulsoom, Zainab and Ruqayyah are scattered around
Or kahin Shabbir o Shabbar hai kahin Ghazi ki maa
Scattered too are Shabbir, Shabbar and the Valiant’s (Abbas) Mother
Isliye romal thaamay betiyan baithi hain sab
All the daughters are seated clasping onto their handkerchiefs
Haye dekha hi nahi jata pidar ka haal ab
They cannot bear to witness their father’s (injured) state
Sar shikasta he Ali ka khoon hota he rawan
The head of Ali (as) is fractured, blood flows (from it)
Haye qadmon se lipat kar bain Zainab ne kiya
Zainab wailed clinging to (her father’s) feet
Yaad aajayega jab bhi aapka chehra mujhe
Whenever I will recall your (luminous) face
Dhundne jaaegi Baba aapko Zainab kahan
Where will Zainab find you, again?
Sochta rehta hoon usne sabr kis tarha kiya
I wonder constantly, how did he have the patience
Baap ke qaatil ko sharbat apne haatho se diya
He fed the sweet drink to his own father’s killer, himself
Haale dil Abbas ka koi kare kaise bayan
How does one describe (the state of) Abbas’s aggrieved heart
Fatima Zahra ke ghar me thi qayamat ki ghari
In the House of Fatima Zahra it was a calamitous time
Bazue Zainab ke bosay le rahe the jab Ali
When Ali kept kissing Zainab’s arms (repeatedly)
Ye zameen tharra rahi thi kanpta tha aasmaa
The Earth was shaking and so were the Skies
Ghamzada chehra he aankhen dard mein doobi huwi
The face is sorrowful; the eyes lost in pain
Kyu Ali (as) rote hain gardan dekh kar Shabbir ki
Why does Ali (as) cry upon looking at Shabbir’s neck
Kya isi gardan pe hoga shimr ka khanjar rawan
Will Shimr’s dagger run across this very neck?
Dil tarap jatahe ab bhi jiski gurbat soch kar
Till now, the is heart overwhelmed with his sorrow
Asim o Zeeshan royain kyun na uske haal par
Why should Asim and Zeeshan (poet) not weep over his tragedy
Ghurbate Shere Khuda par roye hain Kono makan
The Worlds have cried at the helplessness of The Lion of God
